The procedure for petitions

The government administration of the State Parliament of Hesse requests the State Government to give an opinion on the matter. When the opinion has been received, it is examined. The Petition Committee (PTA) discusses this and other petitions at its monthly meetings. Further information may be necessary or the Committee may make an on-site visit. Once all the information is available, the Committee will discuss the matter further and formulate a recommendation. The recommendation is then presented to all members of parliament at the next plenary session. The plenary decides on the recommendation of the Petition Committee. The petitioner is notified of the decision of the plenary. The procedure is then closed.
